Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema remains defiant and says he will challenge his conviction in the firearm discharge trial. Addressing supporters in East London, Eastern Cape, Malema announced plans to approach the Supreme Court of Appeal immediately after his sentencing on 23 January 2026. The East London Magistrate's Court found him guilty on five counts under the Firearms Control Act. The charges stem from a 2018 incident during the EFF's fifth anniversary rally at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane. Joining us for analysis on the Malema firearm judgment is Ulrich Roux, Legal Expert.
